Bayan-Ulgii

Day 1 – Flight to Bayan-Ulgii Province

  • Morning domestic flight from Ulaanbaatar to Bayan-Ulgii (approx. 2 hours).

  • Meet your driver and local Kazakh guide at Ulgii airport.

  • Visit the Bayan-Ulgii Museum – learn about Kazakh culture, history, and wildlife.

  • Explore the local bazaar (open market) for handicrafts and souvenirs.

  • Evening welcome dinner featuring traditional Kazakh cuisine.

      Accommodation: Hotel or ger camp in Ulgii.

Day 2 – Meet Nomadic Family 

  • Morning drive to a Kazakh nomadic family winter camp (approx. 1–2 hrs).

  • Introduction to family life: ger setup, daily chores, livestock care.

  • Observe traditional eagle hunting culture and meet trained golden eagles.

  • Short hike in surrounding valleys and steppe.

  • Evening: learn Kazakh cooking and enjoy a traditional meal with the family.

Day 3 – Migration Begins

  • Assist the family with packing livestock and ger materials for migration.

  • Begin migration toward spring pastures (10–15 km depending on terrain).

  • Travel on foot, horseback, or with camels along frozen rivers and snow-covered plains.

  • Stop for photos of the Altai Mountains and nomadic life along the way.

  • Evening: set up camp at a temporary site, enjoy dinner around a campfire.

Day 4 – Migration & Cultural Activities

  • Continue migration through mountain valleys and steppe (10–20 km).

  • Observe and help with herding horses, yaks, and sheep.

  • Optional activities: short hikes, photography, or ice fishing at a nearby frozen river/lake.

  • Evening: storytelling with the nomads about legends, eagle hunting, and Kazakh traditions.

Day 5 – Arrival at Spring Pastures

  • Morning trek toward spring pasture lands, completing the main migration journey.

  • Observe nomads setting up new gers, grazing livestock, and preparing summer pastures.

  • Participate in daily nomadic activities: milking animals, cooking, or crafts.

  • Optional: short hike to nearby mountains or valleys for panoramic views.
    Accommodation: Ger camp with nomadic family at spring pastures.

Day 6 – Return to Ulgii & Departure

  • Morning breakfast and pack up camp.

  • Drive back to Ulgii town (2–4 hours depending on location).

  • Explore Ulgii town’s bazaar to buy handicrafts, felt products, Kazakh jewelry, or souvenirs.

  • Optional visit to local museums or cultural centers for a last glimpse of Kazakh traditions

Ulaanbaatar city

Day 7 – Fly  to Ulaanbaatar

  • Transfer to Ulgii airport for flight back to Ulaanbaatar (approx. 2 hrs).

  • Meet at airport and transfer to hotel.

  • Visit State Department Store for souvenirs.

  • Optional dinner show with Mongolian throat singing & dance.
